頂棚硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠是指車身內飾軟質或硬質頂棚材料粘接用膠，軟質頂棚由PVC表皮材料或織物與PU軟泡塑料復合而成，硬質頂棚由瓦楞紙與毛氈等材料制作，長期以來，車身軟質頂棚的粘接用膠是溶劑型氯丁橡膠類硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠，這類硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠初粘性好，硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠膠層柔韌，常態粘接強度較高，適合汽車流水線生產使用，但膠中有毒溶劑(如甲苯)污染環境，損害工人健康且存在火災隱患，溶劑對P VC表皮內增塑劑的抽提易引起PVC折皺或變色而影響美觀;另外，硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠膠層耐熱性差易引起頂棚脫落，開發能克服這些弊端的水基頂棚膠為汽車制造廠所期望，車身頂棚溶劑型硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠以其初粘力好、使用方便、適合汽車流水線生產節奏的優勢，長期成為軟質頂棚與車身頂蓋粘接普遍采用的膠種。但該硅烷改性聚氨酯密封膠在冬夏不同季節里的粘接質量較難控制，而有機溶劑的揮發對作業環境及人體健康也有影響。水基型和壓敏型是車身頂棚膠發展的重要方向，日本化學株式會社的雙組分水基丙烯酸醋膠，噴涂時凝膠迅速，初粘強度高，但兩組分配比要求嚴格，需要專用涂膠設備，管理必須規范:壓敏型頂棚膠是將壓敏膠與軟質車身頂棚材料復合在一起，其技術和工藝的綜合性比較優越，目前國內亦有這類產品并在汽車生產中使用。日本Sunstar化學公司研制成功噴涂混合型水基頂棚膠在汽車行業得到推廣應用。www.caffertyclinic.com
